Advising about Immigration, Personal, and Emergency Concerns
Immigration: IEI advises students in matters of immigration in order that the student stay "in status" with the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
IEI helps students to know the rules and regulations of the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVIS). The rules concern passports, visas, residence permission, and extensions.
Personal Problems and Emergency Assistance: IEI helps students with personal problems and emergency situations. For students who do not bring health insurance from their countries, IEI can provide health and accident insurance. In addition, students are given information about car insurance and emergency road service.
The IEI staff are experienced in helping students understand culture shock and resolve problems and in helping to reduce the stress of problems which can be more overwhelming when students have limited English ability and little knowledge of their new surroundings.
